main focus

The main focus in the book The Soloist, is the disease called schizophrenia which a very tragic disease which effects the brain causing people to have abnormal outlook on reality, paranoid delusions and disorganized thinking or speech. Some causes of the disease have to do with the enviornment or genetics. In the book Nathaniel Ayers is the man with this disease but also has to live on the streets which causes this sysmtoms much more saviror. In the book the say that when Nathaniel was a boy he had to go to a mental health hospital to get treatments. It says he was on medicaltion and occationaly got shock treatment, which lead him to run away from home and go to the streets. In most cases schizophrenia is a life time long disease and very small precent of people with the disease get fully cured from it.

During the book

While reading The Soloist i tried to relate myself to Mr. Lopez and put myself in his shoes, and wondered how he was able to remain calm and understanding when Nathaniel had one of his abnormal outbrust. I soon understood that Steve saw that when Mr. Ayers had a breakdown that it wasnt his friend who was loving, friendly and so passionet man he knows but that the disease and taken over and he is able to sperate the disease from the man.

Hello bloggers, this my first blog about this subject and i found it very interseting yet very sad schizophrenia, after read a book called "The Soloist by Steve lopez" .The book is about a man named Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless man who lives in Los Angeles with schizophrenia. one day luckly a columist named Steve Lopez was walking the streets and heard the sound of a volin playing and as he followed the sound he came across Nathaniel. Steve decided to write a colume about Mr. Ayers and as he learned and grew with Nathaniel thought the fun and hardships they became very good friends. Through Nathaniels life and Steve's columes people read and found the inspioring and Mr. Ayers life became very famous and with Mr. lopez's help life his became a movie and best selling book. He now thinking he wants to be a musical thriopest and he plays with many famous musicisan at many famous concert halls. In the book it talks about tradagies thought out Nathaniel Ayers because of his horrible disease. But a man on the street with schizophrenia is not hard to find. 6% or 1 in 17 people on the streets have schizophrenia, but the book book is more about how a man on the street has such an amazing talent to play a voilen with only two strings and with this amazing talent he has schizophrenia just amazed Steve.
